I am excited about the upcoming school year at Palmyra Area High School. My first year in the district was in the 2013/14 school year.
I teach 10th Grade Government and Civics and Global Issues which is a 9-12 grade elective.
Here is a little about myself:
I graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in 2007. After high school I went to Penn State University (We Are!!!) and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Secondary Education. After I graduated I served as a day-to-day substitute in the my home district: West Shore School district. The following year I was hired within the district at Allen Middle School, teaching 7th and 8th grade history. I was hired by the Palmyra Area School District this Spring and that brings us to today. My current interests include: Playing rugby (Old Gaelic Rugby Club, Mechanicsburg) working out/any physical activity, snowboarding, Penn State football, and New York professional sports teams.
Some of my personal beliefs of a quality education:
- Students must be engaged every lesson in order to comprehend the material
- Current events are a major part of any history class and finding the links between today and the past is very important
- Project based learning is a great way for students to learn
- collaborative learning is a very effective teaching strategy
