Hello! My name is Sara Dorwart and I am one of the counselors at Palmyra Middle School. I graduated from James Madison University in 1989 with a B.S. in Psychology and then continued my education at James Madison University and obtained my M.Ed. in School Counseling in 1990. This is my 11th year at Palmyra Middle School and my 17th year as a school counselor. I work with all 6th grade students this year. My goal is to check in with each student at least one time during the year to make sure there are no issues that need to be addressed. I go over any changes that may have occurred since the last time I talked with the student, review current grades, and discuss any issue that needs attention. I also see students in P.A.C.E. (Personal, Academic & Career Enrichment) classes throughout the year and offer small groups for specific needs. In addition to counseling duties, I also serve on the L.I.F.T. team (our school's student assistance program) and help with Heart and Sole (Girls on the Run for middle school students) and the Peer Mentor Program. My goal is to support students in a way that will help them be as successful as possible in school. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any concerns or questions about your child. You can reach me at 838-1331, opt.3, opt. 2.
