Lingle students "Fill a Cruiser"

After reading the story An Orange for Frankie by Patricia Polacco about a boy who gives his most cherished sweater to a shirtless hobo, the 5th Grade students in Miss Kreider's class decided to raise money to buy a toy for a child less fortunate.  The students raised a total $109 and were able to buy two bikes, two helmets, two stuffed bears and more.  Since this was enough for more than one child, the class decided to fill a cruiser!  On December 15th Chief Reigle and his partner from the South Londonderry Township Police came to Lingle Ave. Elementary School and the students filled two cruisers with the toys they bought!  This is the fourth year the program "Operation Fill a Cruiser" has collected unwrapped Christmas gifts and non-perishable food items.  The items are then distributed to area children and families in need.  You can find out more information about this charity at http://www.sltpolice.org/fill-a-cruiser.html.    A special shout out to our school aide, Mrs. Kishel, who suggested the worthy charity and for all her help!
