RENOVATIONS PROJECTS FEATURED IN NASA PUBLICATION

A new online communications project from NASA (National Aeronautics & Space Administration) titled “Space for U.S.” features 56 stories illustrating how NASA science has made an impact in every state in the nation as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and regions along the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and the Great Lakes.  The following is the link to the publication: www.nasa.gov/SpaceforUS.  The site allows you to browse by state or by topics such as animals, disasters, energy, health, land and water.

NASA selected the Palmyra Area Middle School and Forge Road Elementary School projects to represent the state of Pennsylvania.  The following is a direct link to the Palmyra story:

The article discusses how Reynold Energy Services Project Development Manager, John Hayden, used “RETScreen” clean-energy management software to assess the technical and financial viability of the School District’s guaranteed energy savings projects.  RETScreen accesses NASA’s satellite-derived weather data to analyze the correlation between a building’s energy use and weather data.

The article includes quotes from Palmyra’s Director of Business Affairs, Darcy Brenner-Smith and Palmyra Middle School STEM teacher, Jeff Remington, about the financial savings realized by the District and the teaching opportunities for students.
